Davide Astori - RIP

by Sutekh » 04 Mar 2018 16:23

Fiorentina captain and Italy international apparently died in his sleep overnight from a sudden heart attack while in the team hotel. All Serie A games postponed as a mark of respect.

Only 31, unbelievably sad news.

Riposa in pace.

Shocking news. You just never know when your time will be up. Think his wife only recently gave birth too, very sad.

Haven't seen any official confirmation in English but quite a few journalists are saying that Fiorentina have today renewed Astori's contract (€25k a week) with the wages being paid to his family and it continuing to run for the lifetime of his daughter.

that's a real touch of class from them

Even presuming they'll get a hefty insurance payout to cover the club for his death, that's really is a great move by them.

I would be very surprised if it ran for the childs lifetime- but throughout her childhood/education would indeed be a very classy move.
