South Coast Royal
bcubed I haven't watched all this game but even so Modric has committed at least 3 bookable offences. Blatant shirt pulls. Body check. No card to him afaik

The ref in this Mar/Mor game doesn't seem to want to book anybody so once again we have inconsistency in refereeing.
I do like the playing time that reflects the stoppages and would like to see it more in our game.

Agreed on both points

John Hartson before the game

I'm expecting an open game. Loads of goals!

The score chiron on screen constantly is ITV's, whenever the updates pop up that's the host broadcast

I think

I believe this is correct as well.

Yes, now I've turned the TV on I agree.

Find it really odd that the host broadcaster do those overlays. Presumably every national TV broadcaster has their own branded on-screen graphics and it's not just a British thing? They're really shit too, how about giving us a bit of meaningful information, yellow cards etc rather than just repeating the 0-0 scoreline.

Yesterday there was an overlay with "Defensive line breakouts". 47 years of watching football and I've never heard of that - and I just don't understand what it is or why it's being measured.

Decent opening half hour for Deutschland, could have had two or three before the soft (from a perspective of a poor challenge from the keeper) penalty. Deffo a pen though obvs.

In today's* "ITV commentators don't really know what they're doing" update

Matterface saying the ref hasn't given a penalty and has then changed his mind, when it was obvious that the first incident wasn't a penalty while the second was, fortunately Ally McCoist was on hand to explain to the former Mr Natalie Sawyer

*Todays? There's one a match, maybe one a half!

I read that FIFA have been up to their tricks again, putting pressure on an Argentinian broadcaster after they displayed a black ribbon on their screen in tribute to one of the organisers of the Madres de le Plaza de Mayo, who died at the weekend.

FIFA claim it was a political gesture whilst anyone with half a brain would realise that she was a figure of incredible national importance and a cultural icon. This is also a broadcaster who only broadcasts in Argentina.

I also like the process of injury time reflecting more of the time lost during games. It's definitely geared towards the entertainment factor in football now, styles of play and possession football being much more prominent and now obviously adding more injury time to make for a better spectacle, watching more football, punishing time wasting etc.
