URZZZZ Has there been a more ineffective player who’s maintained a career at such a high level than Ramsey? One good season aside (back in 2013), he’s offered very little

I said I wouldn't watch games and I haven't, but I've listened to the phone ins on BBC Wales and there were a few "angry people" who believe Page has cost us with his defensive minded tactics and in particular being too loyal to certain players. As already said a couple of times on the radio, we weren't just playing with 10 men after the sending off, but playing with 9 with Ramsay on the pitch. I have no idea what Page has against Dan James either. He for me has to start.
Fear for us now. England are gonna have open season. Can't see less than 4 being put past us.
Good luck to England though. I'll get behind them. Just wish my lot and the manager showed more balls. I wouldn't have cared less if we had gone out early with decent performances but we have been utter crap.

Don’t know if it was checked bit it looked ok when they showed the run through

Mr Angry Maybe the Iran v Wales result will shut up all those people who said it was "only" Iran that England put 6 past....that England result has - as they say in horse racing - just been franked.

Iran gave Wales a footballing lesson this morning; their movement and passing was crisp, quick and purposeful, and for everyone who says possession is key - Wales had 68% possession today, yet Iran had 22 shots (6 on target - which don't include the 2 that hit the post in the second half) whereas Wales only had 3 on target (the Moore effort 1st half, the Ben Davies effort 2nd half and a tame shot from 30 yards). That was the Iran I feared would turn up against England, and they looked excellent.

Additionally, I thought the BBC coverage with Gabby Logan (who is Welsh and whose Father played for and managed Wales) Ian Rush and some ex Swansea defender showed zero class both before the game (Rush basically said it was a matter of how many Wales were going to win by) and afterwards (blaming the ref for not penalising Iran more often - even suggesting that a European ref would have given Wales more and Klinsman even said that niggly fouls behind the ref's back was in the Iranian "culture" - nice bit of racism there Jurgen!!)

Furthermore, the Beeb couldn't be bothered to show any of Iran's chances in the 2nd half (including the double post hit) let only give any analysis as to how they opened Wales up again and again (basically, with Ramsey a passenger for the whole of the time he was on the pitch and the greatest ever British footballer invisible meant that the Welsh midfield was non-existent) and then the panel finished off by saying that of course Wales can beat England.....on that form? No chance.

Let's see what England do tonight; if they win they are through and so may well rest players going into the last group game, but Wales looked shot today, and like the team that has now not won in their last 7 or 8 games.

Not racist.

I thought Iran looked ok in patches against us so was pretty confident they would beat Wales.

I went 1-0 and was very happy after 99 mins!

Are Qatar going to register a shot on target in the tournament?

EDIT - yes.

Brum Royal And a goal

That’s as many goals scored as Wales after 2 games.

Bale was just as ineffectual in both matches as Ramsey if not worse, he just got to take the penalty against USA. Dan James was woeful against USA, the only thing he can do is run quickly and he didn't seem to think he had to do that and did naff all when he came on today. Your problem is you've got the best two players of their generation coming to the end of their careers and nobody really coming through to replace them. Always going to be an issue with the size of pool of players you have to pick from and the next few years might be quite tough for you as expectations have risen.

Dan James is shit at international level. All he can do is run fast in a straight line. If the defender stays within 2yds of him, he hasn't got a fcuking clue.

Iran are a decent team who were slightly under par against an England team absolutely bang on the money on the day. If Brazil can get absolutely shoed 7-1 in a World Cup semi final on their own turf, then anyone can have an off day.

Qatar are shit though. Maybe a couple of players who could do something at a decent level and with better players around then but there's no tactical or positional discipline there.

Winston Biscuit I always find it amusing that Welsh get annoyed that we don't take the football rivalry with them seriously. I think they really really want us to hate them so as to make it a big thing, but most people here are either just not bothered or would actually like to see them do quite well

 This is garbage Winny. We don't want England fans to hate us at all. I also suspect a lot of England fans were celebrating today as they were in jnr's house

As for the game Iran fully deserved the win. We have been poor in this tournament. However this generation of Welsh footballers have massively overachieved over the past 7 or 8 years so I won't be criticising them.

Yep agree with all of this. We needed Bale and Ramsey to be at their best but they are well past that now. There is no shame in this
We are a small nation with very limited resources.

64 years to get to a World Cup and they forget to play in it

Personally I’m fully behind Wales’ decision to boycott the tournament, more sides should have had the guts to do the same.

Wales have been carrying 2 players (Bale and Ramsey) who seem past their prime. Also the team looked unfit and had absolutely no energy or aggression. There's not enough depth as the pool is just too small and players who haven't been playing for their clubs full time.

Agree with Mr A on this. Iran were sharper, more skilful and simply better than us The Beeb pundits should have recognised that
