From Despair To Where? Brighton, Brentford, Wolves, Leicester, Leeds, Nottingham Forest, Southampton, Sheffield United, Coventry, Blackburn, Sunderland, Norwich, Ipswich, Sheffield Wednesday, Derby, Bolton, Charlton
All clubs who are bigger or similar size who have been in League 1 more recently than us.

MaguireSnowflake Royal Football's cyclic
Doesn't have to be. Six teams have been in the PL for the last 30 years. We've been in the top two divisions for more than 20 years.
Our relegation is a consequence of a series of poor decisions and parlous management over a period of time, not due to some natural cycle.
It was totally avoidable and Reading fans should be angry at what's happened to the club rather than meekly accepting its fate.Snowflake Royal A few in L1 won't hurt us
Of course it will hurt us. Every single thing about relegation is bad for the club. We've undone a quarter of a century of progress.

Millsy Let’s gut the bullshit and get real about this.
It will hurt for 5mins then we’ll get over it, calm down and carry on supporting.
Yes we all want to get to the PL and win it but we know the latter is never going to happen and we’ll be on a perpetual journey of yearning for the rest of our lives. That journey is the whole point of following football.
Let’s not pretend that life is fun and easy. For most of us it isn’t. Life is a bitch with a shitload of worries and stresses constantly. Football is a moment of distraction from the shit in our lives. For most on this sub also a connection with our youth also. A constant love in our lives.
That journey has been so painful for the last decade or so. Week after week, crap after crap. Something that’s meant to be a happy distraction from the troubles of life end up just exacerbating the underlying stress as I leave most Saturday afternoons feeling more unhappy than I started off.
At least in League One those afternoons will much more likely lead to happiness and serve their purpose as a positive distraction to life’s woes.
Chin up. Enjoy the ride wherever it may be.
Millsy Yesterday Screw this. Dai is totally at fault for everything. Spending shitloads but never bringing in a proper manager to make most of the players. Never having a proper manager lined up when sacking one, just taking a punt with nobodies. Just f**k it all. Totally deserve to go down.
Screw football, I'll probably take a break for a couple of years.
An up and down ride since the 1995 playoff final but it's just been shite after shite in the last decade or so.

The Royal Forester After we were relegated in the 1930's, how long did it take us to get back to the second tier? About 50 years! We improved as a club/team with the move to a new stadium, with a lot of new supporters and a chairman who had the ambition to get little old Reading into the top tier (I for one said "Dream on, mate", which I think a lot of others thought) which combined to set us into the club's most successful period. This time around we will not have a new ground, in fact the club dosen't even have their own ground, Fewer fans though the gates instead of new fans to give the club/team a boost, a chairman who doesn't appear to care much for the club. Anyone want another fifty years bouncing between the tier 3 and 4? Not me.

Maybe he's calmed down now after emotion was so high yesterday following the defeat and our rivals winning.
Here's the reality; league one will bring so much uncertainty for the club. There's a risk of administration if Dai pulls the plug on us, if we go bust it won't really matter to him. We could drop again to L2 or worse. We may do an Ipswich and bounce back stronger which looks like it'll happen now but let's face it, Ipswich get bigger crowds/revenues so can invest more. I feel more like we'll do a Charlton, be midtable league one with the occasional stint in the championship for the next decade.
Will always be a fan but using football to escape and seeing us decline as a club is hard to take. Next season will be interesting doing some new grounds but if we don't bounce back quickly it'll be a depressingly tedious league.
As for the ownership, who will buy us? A football club with no stadium, no training ground or any assets and a load of debt.

Royal_jimmy We could go into administration if Dai decides not to fund the club anymore and players don't get paid.

Humans are emotional beings shocker.
That’s how I and many of us felt yesterday but when the dust settles life carries on. What a great example eh?
Watch this space for many more moments of emotional chimp brain Millsy vs more rational Millsy. I don’t have multiple HNA accounts unlike some. This is me and I’ll forever move between the two.
