Ascotexgunner Mowbry sacked by Sunderland......

Yes f+cking please. The perfect fit......

Would be a good appointment.

Who the oxf*rd do Sunderland think they are if they sack him after what he's done for them

He's a Newcastle fan and was pictured at the Carabao Cup final wearing a t-shirt saying "Sad Mackem Bastards". They've been looking for an excuse to get rid of him ever since.

Who the oxf*rd is Chris Davies? He’s suddenly appeared from nowhere in the betting odds. I appreciate that the bookies are just scrambling but he’s 4/1.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Davies_(footballer)

Chris Davies (born 27 March 1985) is a Welsh association football coach, who was most recently the assistant manager of Premier League club Leicester City.

Davies has been assistant manager to Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool, Celtic and Leicester.

Playing career
Davies signed with Reading, aged 16, where he captained the youth team coached by Brendan Rodgers.[1] He was also capped for the Wales Under-17, 18 and 19 team. Despite appearing regularly for the Reading reserve team, Davies was forced to retire from professional football in 2004, aged 19, due to injury.

So he already has Reading connections and has worked with Rodgers.

Sounds interesting though not exactly the experienced head that some have been asking for.

Former academy player, and former coach back in 2016. He was, and still is our youngest ever coach, aged 30. He’s been Rodgers right hand man at Swansea ,Liverpool, Celtic and Leicester. He left Leicester when Rodgers was sacked last month.

Cheers for the update. He could well be someone we’d look at then. My heart is set on Wilder, Lol.

McGhee had none, Pardew had none, McDermott had none...

Please God no, indeed.

At least he's coached at some top clubs and won trophies!

McDermott did have management experience, and was an internal appointment so completely different.

Pardew had lots of internal experience.

I'm not against all appointments with no management experience always. I'm against them.for our current shambolic declining circusmtances.

I just want a manager who the players will look at and think "Yep, this guy knows what he's doing."

That's the thing with Warnock, if you're at a struggling club and he comes in you instantly have confidence that he has a plan to get you out of it - and that confidence is so important in football. When McDermott took over the players had confidence that they guy knew the club, knew the players and was going to get the best out of them. Every other manager we've had since then has simply inspired hope that they might be ok - not any reassurance.

I see Garry Monk has thrown his hat into the ring. Obviously has a lot of experience - but also a lot of baggage. He's the sort of manager where you'd expect us to either do great or awful and nothing in between.

Lets just find a manager that has been promoted from League One. It can't be that hard.

Does CD have a big watch and/or Brendan's big colouring book of tactics?

Believe it would be the same sort of appointment as Ipswich made with Kieran McKenna and that can hardly be called a failure, but CD has experience as assistant manager in the PL (and at Liverpool too) whereas McKenna was merely a youth team coach, albeit at Spurs and ManU.

I'd consider him the best option of those yet to "leave the nest". And he'd probably have Brendan to call on if he needed some assistance. Plus he'll probably have a feel for how the club operated in the good times.

I don't mind the idea of Chris Davies, seen fans on twitter saying we need an experienced man, someone who knows the league, I disagree, if there were any time to try a left-field option like this, this would be it, reset needed, chance to build a project, shouldn't be anywhere near a relegation scrap.

The completely random appointments we've made in recent seasons have been crazy because we knew our restrictions, knew we'd most likely be down near the bottom of the league and still made these decisions.

Now really isn’t the time to recruit a manager with no experience. If we’d been in League One for a year or two and we had a decent squad I’d be all for giving an inexperienced manager a chance. It’s worked well for Ipswich this season.

We are a complete rebuild and we haven’t played at this level for 20+ years so it’s vital to recruit someone who knows this league. I’d rather someone who could keep us mid table for 1-2 years. If we start trying to play tippy tippy football we’ll get slaughtered and it will be another complete failure. I just hope that the club have learnt from past mistakes.

I didn't miss your point, I just don’t agree it has any relevance.
