paultheroyal Great to see the trip to Spain is going ahead - reassurance that actually, some things are alright and perhaps a return to business as usual. Communication would be helpful, but i am, for the moment, seeing this as a positive. Coupled with the change of wording regarding HMRC, today is a slightly better day.

The change of wording is purely to ensure consistency with previous times clubs were charged. It's the same charge, we haven't paid tax due.

If pre-season in Spain was planned before the end of the season why's it only just been announced?

It sounds like they've paid for it between the HMRC tax stuff and now.

There's talk of the tax just being paid late, not that it's still due. Not sure if that's true but though. The club really should speak on this as it just drives hate towards the board with all the speculation.

A truly :| selection that about sums the club up. Think the trip to Sutton is probably the highlight.

Curious as to what you were expecting? Would've it actually been much different if we had stayed up or if the club was in a better position? This seems like a pretty standard pre-season list.

Well I guess we wouldn't have played Bristol City, QPR, Southampton or Swansea (unless QPR went down) as you don't tend to play teams in your own division.

We may have got a home game v Brighton or Bournemouth I guess but that's about it. Not sure why anyone is that fussed about who we play in a friendly - they are games designed just for trying out formations, players in certain positions and triallists in a stress free environment.

I guess so, just seems like an odd thing to get hung up on and why it "sums the club up". Would imagine that other clubs in L1 have a similar PSF fixture list.

The same people who moan about the PSF are the same people who moan about everything else and think the sky is falling because they saw an acorn fall from a tree. They need to relax and stop getting their knickers in a twist about every little thing the club does.

In days long past. Pre season friendlies were little more than training sessions. Entry was free. Normally a bucket went round and donations were given to a local charity. Now it's monetisation of football. Nothing more. While supporters wet themselves.

That must have been a very long time ago. I've been going since the mid 80s, and don't remember friendlies ever being free.

I miss the days of playing the likes of Didcot and getting the teams confidence up by smashing them 9 or10-0.

Another :| friendly.

Would much prefer some local non-league sides to get the confidence up and try and hit the net a few times. Our threadbare makeshift squad taking a beating against Southampton in front of 3000 fans wont do much for anyones confidence.

If you want to really look hard for a positive, then the sides we are playing must feel assured we'll have a competitive side to play by then - would a club feel happy setting up a game the week before the season if it was likely they were going to be playing a mix of u18 and u21 players.
