grey_squirrel Absolutely hideous

Who is it at the club that chooses the kit design?

And can someone please tell me just what is wrong with the traditional blue and white hooped kit with WHITE shorts and socks of the early ‘70s???

Main thing wrong with it is you aren’t going to sellas many if you just do basically the same kit every year.

I make it very roughly 45 seasons total of blue and white hoops with white shorts. 90 seasons with no hoops and blue shorts and about 25 hoops with blue shorts.

Presume the pricing includes an “unpopularity” premium.

Could just be the new positivity around the club but it’s the fastest selling shirt in years apparently.

Some slight differences between the shirts worn by John Ryan and Paudie O'Connor - collar different plus Macron logo on shoulders. Wonder why as most pictures are like Paudie's

EDIT - this explains it

I don’t exactly keep track of shirt pricings, but doesn't seem that mad to me for a football shirt. They've always been notoriously overpriced

Yeah, I don't think the problem is the price of our shirt - it's the price of football shirts overall.

Given how many people pay the price you could suggest there isn’t a problem.
Although I agree, it’s out of my budget.

It's not going to stop me buying one I want, but its also not going get me to buy one I don’t really really like, or more regularly that 5-10 years

This. £80+ for some PL and international shirts (so it's not just the clubs seeking to fleece supporters)

At the end of the day if there's idiots that'll pay it then what do you expect?

Really think there should be an international crackdown on the replica sports kit markets.

I hope kit pricing isn't one of the US business models that our new owners will be adopting.

If you think shirts are overpriced here (I tend to agree) you should see how MLS sting fans in the US - between $110-120+ for a 'replica' shirt. North of $160 for an 'authentic' shirt!

And if you're silly enough to jump on the Inter Miami Messi bandwagon, you can expect to shell out very close to $210 for a Men's Inter Miami CF Lionel Messi adidas Originals Blue 2025 Third Authentic Player Jersey!

$120 is about £88 no? So in line with PL clubs here...

I always wanted all the shirts when I was a kid, and often the shorts and socks too. I was lucky my parents usually complied, as I didn't ask for much else for birthdays and Christmases. Was still around £40 for the shirt 20 years ago, but actually talking to my old man recently he said he never minded too much because the shirts were so hard-wearing he always felt he got his money's worth.

A friend of mine has a son who wants all the latest gear and I'm always a bit shocked when he tells me how much stuff is. Further cementing my plans to never have kids.

Anyone who wants the shirt but doesn’t want to pay £58 should go to DH Gate, where you’ll be able to buy it for £12 and it will be exactly the same. Obvs you’ll have to live with the guilt that not one penny goes to helping the club out and you’ll probably go to hell.

It’s a market place, people are willing to pay the price so they charge it.

But it doesn’t mean the price isn’t ridiculous Vs the cost to produce.
