Only one Trevor Morley
Brum Royal
Elm Park Kid WiFi has signed back up.

Insider knowledge?

Sorry I’m being slow, what does this mean?

It means, what’s the source for the statement. There’s a lot of random statements being thrown around about players signing but no factual evidence in the media or on the club website to back the “statements” up.

EPK has got some previous things correct so we can all hope he’s right again but until the club issue a statement there’s nothing to get too excited about.

Pepe the Horseman That should silence the critics.

Especially when they find out he is ex-Reading

Stevens spent his formative years based in Newbury, and enjoyed a year at the John Madejski Academy just over a decade ago, combining his studies with further football opportunities.

It was at this point he caught the attention of current Head of Goalkeeping Rob Shay, who brought Jack into the Academy setup for further training and development in 2013/14.

Hmm. Not sure he's that well thought of at Cambridge, will check. Obviously not going to be first choice and a step up on Norcott/Rowley etc.

Not a signing to get very excited about... he'll spend the season on the bench and in cup games.

He was well thought of at Oxford when they finished 6th and 8th with him as their starter. - apparently they think it's a confidence thing with him - which makes sense as given the coaching setup knows him they must think he can be at least decent. https://cambridgeunitedfc.proboards.com ... ck-stevens

Lets not forget the crusade Hearts fans regularly have against JP - better a backup GK who has lost his confidence but can play very well than someone who'll never offer anything.

EPK is usually pretty spot on - so if he says something has/is happening, it normally does. Of course, always tread carefully until confirmed.

View from a Cambridge STH on Stevens:

"Oh no, not your first choice goalkeeper I hope. Nasty habit of chucking the ball into the back of the net. He's part of the reason we are where we are"

"He's really rubbish, better hope your goalkeepers keep fit".

Bit different as Pereira played at Hearts years ago, Cambridge are talking about Stevens performance last season.

But he's only back up, so not a big deal

Ehibhatiomhan - Millwall complained a Wi-Fi password had scored against them on his debut.

Elm Park Kid I was told yesterday that they are expecting everyone to sign back up apart from mBengue who is already gone and Wareham who is 90% gone. Maybe one other.

Hang on, Brogue told us Wareham signed weeks ago?

He looked a real bright spark and without him we have literally zero strikers.

Surely the only reason Wareham would go is if he's not guaranteed to be our first choice striker, which in itself is hopefully a good sign. Agreed he looked promising in patches, like a Shane Long lite, but would be worrying if we were relying on him to get 15+ goals.

This would be good news. Though he needs to step up from last year

Not everything I'm told is right. Should probably clarify that. Was told that Kelvin is at Bearwood today.

Craig isn't.

Yeah, sometimes things will fall through or people will make mistakes.

Your record speaks for itself though

Another possibility is his dad has got involved in the contract negotiations and said Reading aren't offering enough?

Feels almost the opposite of Charlie Savage and Robbie, where Savage Senior has told Charlie to stick with us

No proof, just a feeling

I'm hoping the Kelvin E rumour is true...

That will be 2 of my holy trinity (Joel, Kelvin, Amadou) who I felt were key of the OOC players.

Amadou will be a loss and I hope we bring in some new young pacy CB to complement things...

However, I'm intrigued as to what the forward line will look like - a lot of rebuilding needed there - hopefully that's to come!

Some chap on x @OliB_RFC is claiming all is not well behind the scenes. Reckons RC is not being honest in terms of us having a top 6 budget. He has over 7k followers and has been right about a couple of things.

My expectations are realistic tbh, so I’ll be happy with a top half finish next season. I guess we’ll see how the squad looks come 02/09.
