You could get Blackburn and Norwich joining Wednesday rather than the likes of the Ox, whoever does drop is likely to challenge seriously though, even Wednesday themselves as they have the clout and will have owners anxious to prove they can deliver sensibly and aren’t likely to have issues attracting players. There’ll possibly be Huddersfield and Stockport and/or Bradford still hanging about, eager to put their oar in and those from the division below regularly seem to be able to throw in a dark horse . All sounds a bit expensive in terms of distance to travel too

As regards uptick in results, last 6 games we have accrued 8 points which is far from play off form especially given our slow start to the season.

As regards uptick in results, last 6 games we have accrued 8 points which is far from play off form especially given our slow start to the season.

Especially when you consider who we've played:

1. Leyton Orient (A; 18th; 33pts) - 1-3
2. Barnsley (H; 15th; 37pts) - 2-2
3. Exeter (H; 13th; 38pts) - 2-2
4. Northampton (A; 19th; 33pts) - 2-0
5. Wimbledon (A; 14th; 38pts) - 2-3
6. Wigan (A; 22nd; 31pts) - 2-1

Aside from that run around Christmas/New Year, our record has been Pld 11; W4; D3; L4; Pts 15 (1.36ppg / 62.6pts over 46 matches). With that run, we're looking at: Pld 16; W8; D4; L4; Pts 28 (1.75ppg / 80.5pts over 46 matches).

Perhaps playing stronger sides will help us, as they'll be less likely to put players behind the ball and we look completely clueless when it comes to breaking sides down.

Turn any one of the games we lost points into a win and its either 10 or 11 pts from 6 games, which is basically consistent with the rest of Leam's form.

Hopefully that illustrates the narrow margins involved and - I hesitate to keep repeating myself - we do need a small uptick to really compete for play-offs.

I fully expect the side to continue to improve.

Personally I haven’t seen any improvement since Hunt left. The LR tactic is for Pereira and the defenders to aimlessly thump the ball up field for about 80% of the game in the hope that Marriott gets a rebound. For the other 20% we actually pass it around nicely and then we look like a threat. This must be a tactic as otherwise surely LR would have got them passing more of the game. I just don’t get it.

And the other disappointment is that most of the young players who helped get us to 7th last time have just been binned off and replaced by has beens such as Richie.

The football is dire in the main which explains the low crowds.
