advice please

by wehateoxford » 09 Aug 2006 13:17

right, i just got my middlesborough ticket, but i might not be here for the weekend to go to feynoord.

i have around 100 royalty points (can't remember how many) and am at uni, i've also just joined STAR exiles and am going to 50% of away games this season

my question is, should i buy a feynoord ticket, even to just pass onto a mate for the royalty points, or should i not bother and hope the amount i have means i can get to the home games for weekends im coming back??

also. if i go on my brothers season tickets as i sometimes do, can i transfer royalty points?? im thinking NO

You'll get 10 points for Middlesbrough at least

Royalty points are non transferable.

I know a young kid who went to games with his Dad last season, they wanted season tickets but because his points were put on his Dad's card (he was under 7 for some games and didn't qualify for a member card), they couldn't get season tickets even though they had enough points between them but split over the two cards wrongly. Also, the Dad never went to any games on his own.

The club said transfering points accross earn't from the child tickets so they appeared on the childs account was against the rules.

That is appalling!!! This clearly demonstrates a need to change the rules; it is not as though they haven't earned the points, and are trying to bypass the system... it is the system that is blatantly wrong in this case.

On the Feynoord game subject, I have told my (new) partner to buy a ticket on her membership card to get the Royalty points, even though we are not going (.. in fact 'can't go'..) to the game. In the overall picture of how important the points are, £16 is cheep for 20 of the blighters!!!.

its a bit frustrating that you cant transfer, as i know my brothers wouldnt object and it would raise my points considerably, but i suppose rules are rules.

sometimes i think royalty points are a bit of a ruse, but im glad to see the club have protected my loyalty enough to allow me to go to our first EVER premiership game

The double points earned by the Dad's ticket was against the rules too!!

Once when I was chatting to one of the ticket office operators (having actually managed to get through) they offered to transfer points for me, at the time I thought nothing of it as I naively thought they weren't that important.
Towards the end of last season when Roylaty points became more and more important I enquired about the transfer only to be told that this couldn't be done, which I accept totally, I don't pay for my season ticket so I could hardly expect some free Royalty points too! Just weird that I have hardly missed a home game in about 4 seasons and only have 20 Royalty points. Shucks.
