Megastore

by royalsteve » 20 Aug 2006 02:00

They really need to sort this out. Today was a joke.....my son got a bit cold in the ground and he didnt have a coat or jumper. So i went to the Megastore to get him a jumper....1 min to choose - 45 fing minutes to queue up (only 15 in the queue!!) and pay

i missed the fireworks, etc and only just made kick off.....when i did pay by cash, with 1 min to kick off...the checkout girl was slower than a snail and tried to s-l-o-w-l-y fold it......i....i never seen someone work so slowly....just grabbed the items off her and ran to the turnstile

They need more tills and staff who can work efficiently

so annoyed, BUT the game and result more than made up for it

So, in a nutshell, you forgot to take a jumper for your son, and it's the club's fault?

I have to say i am in complete agreement, the staff in the store are absolutely useless! They are entirely incompetant, i don't think i have ever seen an efficient member of staff in there.

I went out last night to celebrate our win yesterday. I have woken up this morning with a stinking hangover and as a result of that won't be able to work today, which is going to cost me money.

Absolutely disgraceful by Reading FC. I demand compensation. Heads must roll over this.

Edit... my previous post was probably unfair. I'm sure the Megastore staff try their best.

The reality is that any transaction with Reading FC needs to be arranged to be done a non match day.

Completely missed that. I suppose most North standers would have.

Yeah, Fireworks. Didn't you see them?

When the teams came out there were some fireworks on top of the North Stand for about 10 seconds.

Not particularly impressive.

When I went to get my shirt last week.

'That'll be £38 plus £3.50 for the Royals magazine, £41.50'

OK I said, here's my £5 off the shirt voucher, a £20.00 gift voucher, and a £25.00 gift voucher.

'Thank you, here's your £3.50 change'

I said 'I'll think you'll find that it should be a bit more than that.

Next ten minutes are spent whilst they (yes two of them) scratch their heads discussing whether I'm right, or they are. Then they start again from scratch and eventually they say 'that's £8.50 to come back to you'.

Did they apologise for the mistake and the delay? did they ****

Their first mistake was offering to give change for a voucher.

Just for a bit of balance... I queued to go into the shop yesterday after the match. Took about 10 minutes, which is what I'd expected. I'd already paid for a shirt but hadn't yet received one, because of the delays with the delivery of their stock. I asked if I could collect one rather than wait for the post. It took about five minutes, but the very nice supervisor sorted me out a shirt to collect (even though she thought one might already have been posted). Then, because I had had to wait for her, she took my cash for the printing I wanted to have done, so I could start queuing in the print queue immediately.

My mate and I spoke to three members of staff yesterday. They looked harrassed with the level of demand (and it was bloody hot in there too - I could feel sweat running down my back), but they were courtious and they all dealt with our enquiries as quickly as they could.

I've worked in shops in similar situations (uni bookshops at the start of term), I know what it's like. Mistakes will happen, stock will get lost, customers will have to queue. There isn't the room for extra tills, and what kind of staff would they get if they advertised work for two weeks - because that's all the rush will last for? As somebody said, unless you have to (I'm heading back to Manchester), don't shop on matchdays; if you do, expect it to be busy.

Kinda feel the need to back up rabidbee here. Already had my shirt and just wanted printing on it. Straight up to the counter, paid by card almost immediately. Straight up to the printing counter, bloke takes the shirt and does it. All in all about a 10 minute jobby. Quick, efficient, no complaints from me.

The staff were very helpful to me yesterday. I had ordered my shirt, but it had come in with long sleeves instead of short so they offered me the long sleeved one to 'borrow' until my new one came in. I think they had as many staff as possible on - extra till points open and staff printing names and numbers. All very courtious. Of course its going to be busier than usual at the moment, but they seem to be doing their best.
