Sarah Star I was asked why there were coaches from Holland at the game and I've got no idea. Why were they there? :?

Overseas tourists lost i presume. Though it was mentioned that a contingency of supporters came from overseas. It's supposedly twinned with 27 other countries so perhaps it was a cultural exchange. :D

As Coventry is twinned with Dresden and also the former Stalingrad, i think the RAF and the German army are historically accountable.

No. The Luftwaffe let down the German troops who were surrounded, and capitulated as a result.

And it certainly wasn't the Luftwaffe that bombed Dresden!

(Coventry is another matter....)

Hence why they were twinned.

So they came to see Coventry rather than Reading (or "The Kebe")? :?

Given that the football team that took part in the penalty shoot out were announced as being from Dusselfdorf, which is twinned with Reading, what do you think?

BTW I like the way the ref appeared to join in with the German theme when measuring out the distance for the Coventry wall in the second half. Goose-stepping ten yards with right arm held out at 90 degrees and forearm bent up at 90 degrees!!

OK, I know, that was about as PC as the EP headline when good old Uwe was playing for us: 'German sub sinks........'

FTR, Reading and Dusseldorf were the first towns to be twinned. This happened around 1948 but I could be wrong. Apparently, we lost on penalties.

A big LOL at some of you saying Sig will go for 2million. As someone mentioned earlier there was big money for some of the young players bought from the championship Ramsey, Adam Johnson and Bale. All of these players were not only playing bloody well, but have fantastic Technical ability. Sig definitely falls into that bracket and for a central midfielder to score as many as he has in his first full season is testament to his ability. Just look at the goals he's scored Long range, Free kicks, Ice cool penalties, close range. And not to mention his skill, ball control and his passing ability which I don't feel is noticed too much by some of you. In my eyes he is going to be one hell of player and when we sell him to a big club we will get at least as much as we did for Doyle.

And to mention a discussion between myself and floyd at half time - those people saying that Rodgers's football was entertaining, I beg to differ. The first half today was entertaining football, pacey, direct, skilful, intense, thoroughly enjoyable to watch. But if people want to watch plod-plod football with the ball being passed casually around the back four and midfield, that's up to them :|

I don`t think anyone found Rodgers` football entertaining. He couldn`t find a winning team or any consistency. A few of us hoped though that he would succeed in creating a team that built from the back. One of the most enjoyable games from last season, perverse though it was, saw Swansea dismantle us at the Liberty Stadium playing this way. Closer to home did we not use to cheer from the rafters when the likes of Osborn, Kerr, Gooding and Wdowcyz did the same to our opponents?

15 goal-a-season player who's banged in a load of penalties. don't get me wrong I like him but some of you are talking like he's the second coming of Glen Little, Kevin Doyle and Martin Butler all rolled into one £10m package. he's not, or at least, not yet.

plus of course, the days of clubs spending stupid money are over, show me a club with £10m to spend on a young Championship player this season. Doyle was proven after two years in the Prem.

Why do people keep saying "15-goal-a-season player" as if that's substandard or, at least, average? He's a midfielder.

It's 16, by the way, and the season isn't over yet. A few million chanced on a 20-year-old midfielder who scores 20 in his first season in the second flight? Yes, that seems plausible, even if goals were his only major contribution (as we know, they're clearly not).

If people see the possibility of a big money move in the future, it's because top clubs will pay for players with potential. Glenn Little was obviously producing an even higher level of performance than Sigurdsson in the 05/06 season, but given the respective ages it's not really relevant.

It looks like the £2-3 million estimate is about right.

Surely that article suggests that 2-3 million is undervaluing him ?

If one club is prepared to leak an initial bid of 2.5 million and 3 or 4 others are also interested then we can probably assume that he'd go for significantly more.
