LUX Kane is a mystery. He was on fire for two seasons (slow starts notwithstanding), but has been absolutely awful since- and during - the Euros. His passing/contribution v Iceland was unbelievably bad. It's not just a question of missing chances, not being in the right place, his confidence is shot and he is a mess. A manager needs to sort his head out. That's what they are paid for.

I wish him luck as I want him to be a star for England.

He's just completely shot I think. Needs a month off.

He's probably exhausted and, as Stranded has pointed out, it looks like he's just a consistently slow starter.

This time last year it was all about how he was suffering with second season syndrome and he went of to score shit loads again.

Rashford is an interesting one. He's taken every challenge well and truly in his stride but he's not one that has been earmarked for great things in the way that Rooney, Owen or Sterling were. How we make the most of his form for England is a tough call for Allardyce but I'd expect him to be in the next full squad if he stays fit and anywhere near in form.

I disagree on Kane. It was not physical fatigue that let him down against Iceland (for example). If I had the stomach for it I'd "like" to watch that match again and relive the horror show. I hope Sam does do that.

ps I do agree re. Rashford. He has to be there or thereabouts for the next few matches.

Kane, unless his club form picks up. Not sure Sterling deserves his place either. Nor Lallana, who is a lovely player to watch but scores too few goals for an attacking midfielder(?). No longer a Rooney fan either :|

I guess Rashford and Vardy should start up front, maybe Walcott too. Obviously I'd like to see Kane back as the automatic choice. Taking him off against Slovakia was a charitable act.

I like the way Rooney thinks playing midfield is knocking diagonal balls down the wing backs gullet.

I say wing back, I mean supporter in Row F.

Well not exactly no, although it probably was a bit of it, but I was thinking more mentally exhausted and perhaps not quite as sharp physically. That, coupled with being far too isolated against teams who packed the defense against us put him on a hiding to nothing.

Don't forget that Kane went with the U21's to the Euro's last summer as well as playing his first two proper seasons in the Premier League.

That's a pretty significant work load.

He might just be one of those players that needs proper games to get sharp though. I always thought that both Rooney and Owen were much the same.

'greed! Has been doing this for the last 3 or 4 seasons with Valencia. Usually really
easy to defend i.e. slowly shuffling across should do it!

Lovely stuff?

All seems a bit boorish to me. Hardly the height of intelligent satire is it?
