Dirk Gently I remember it well - weren't we there just the week before?

Indeed we were, a terrible loss to the friends and families. Bradford only just recently played Lincoln for the first time since the tragedy a couple of years ago.

Could someone tell me if the stand to the right from where the away end is now at Valley Parade is the one that caught fire?

We (I) were..we stuffed them btw (Deano at his best)
Anyway, blood ran cold the week after when I heard the news.

The stand that went up was where the big 2 tier stand is now.

I work with someone who was at the match. He was 5 at the time and was on the terracing in front of that stand. He says all he can really remember is his dad tucking him under his arm legging it toward the front and throwing him over the wall onto the pitch. His uncle was a lifelong CIty fan. Hasn't stepped in a football ground since.

With Heysel happening 2 weeks later, Bradford really is the forgotten tragedy. I remember watching it at the time and seeing the footage and hearing the radio commentary never fails to bring tears to my eyes. An indescribably horrific tragedy. It's amazing the number of 20 something locals that I work with, whilst knowing about the tragedy, were unaware of the exact extent and horrific nature and have genuinely expressed a sense of shame about that in the past few days so people on here shouldn't feel too bad about their lack of knowledge. The widespread local coverage in the past couple of days has certainly brought it home to them.

RIP

FiNeRaIn Jesus christ is all I can say. I've known about it for years, but when you actually see and hear it, fvcking hell.

That guy on fire just casually walking in haunting, don't suppose anyone know if he survived.

No, he didn't

"One retired mill worker made his way to the pitch, but was walking about on fire from head to foot. People smothered him to extinguish the flames, but he later died in hospital"
