personally i get sick of the bad looks i get when i forget to stop swearing, or the woman and her kids with a big blanket across their collective knees behind me, or the man who complained when me and the yoofs behind me were being"too loud"
but as a grown up adult and sensible human being i can see how my enjoyment of the game may infringe slightly on theirs, and try to modulate my beaiviour accordingly.


and by the way, you can sing your heart out for the lads, you can sing non stop for the entire game at top decibel level, but that doesnt neccessarily demand swearing, or angry faces, or threatening to kill opposition players or the ref.

That's my point though we are changing football to suit the middle class, years ago you wouldn't get looks for being 'too loud'. I accept this may alienate some people but joking aside i thought thats what family sections were for? The whole problem about attracting people isn't this anyway its the prices.

Old school atmosphere just doesn't exist at the Madejski Stadium.
Anyone who finds the ground intimidating on match days is an idiot.

I don't understand the negativity at all. This is not the 1970s with skinheads, DMs and braces. Times have moved on. Just take a step back and try and see the bigger picture. Once extremely good reason for winning such an award would be in ATTRACTING more corporate sponsorship. After all, how many businesses out there would not want to be associated with such a football club.

And as for terraces, don't make me laugh. The next thing you lot will want is a return to the Victorian era and the reinstatement of workhouses and child labour. Don't any of you remember the state of the toilets in the South bank or Tilehurst End? Positively prehistoric!

Families in the area that one day find themselves wanting to waste a couple of hours on a Saturday, will not wait for the reassurance that thier local club has won a certificate naming them the most family club in the league, they know they can just buy a ticket and go without being smacked round the head by a 19 year old wearing a Burberry boiler suit.

I know plenty of people who think that football crowds are all about swearing, drinking and violence/pack mentality and are put off by it. Whether they'd go if they could be convinced it was the opposite I don't know, but I'm working on it and if we won this award it would be something official I could point to.

I haven't really had much choice about where to sit when I bring family/friends so I'm not sure that there are any family areas at the Mad Stad.

no, you or i arent intimidated by the atmosphere, in fact often we are hugely disapointed

but ive seen women, men, old and young at the stadium be intimidated even by the smallest ammount of swearing and aggressiveness,

basically

you= not bothered, doesnt actually mean the rest of them arent.

its sad, because we all enjoy the crack, we all like a song, and we all like to swear and abuse people at the game

but unfortuately we dont = the majority of society, or probably even the majority of the football crowd any more

no.you can be upperclass and not have enough disposable income to pay for a football ticket every week,

you said lower prices = better atmosphere
so unless you are suggesting that people who have payed less are just happier, and therefore louder.
i would assume from the question that you believe by decreasing prices, you get people who couldnt afford to go before, to go the game. therefore they are relatively poorer than those who already went when it was more expensive
