I think the point being from SFers, if you live in and around Reading why would you want to get a coach which doesn't allow you to get on the booze

Well, you wouldn't drive either really. Any 'ding dweller who drives to Lonners is a bit mental if you ask me, even with the tube booze ban

All of the offences surrounding football and alcohol are contained in the Sporting Events (Control of Alcohol) Act 1985.

Travel to and from a designated football match

It is an offence to POSSESS ALCOHOL or be DRUNK on a public service vehicle (i.e any football coach whether hired by the Club – The Official Travel Club – OR privately by any group/individuals that is being used to take passengers to and from a designated football match).
Persons can commit an offence as follows:
The OPERATOR and/or the DRIVER (if they knowingly permit alcohol to be carried)
The HIRER (if they knowingly permit alcohol to be carried)
The PASSENGER (who has alcohol in their possession)
The PASSENGER (who is drunk on the vehicle)
It is also an offence to POSSESS ALCOHOL or be DRUNK in a motor vehicle, which is not a PSV, that is adapted to carry MORE THAN EIGHT PASSENGERS (i.e a mini bus with more than 10 seats, including the driver) to and from a designated football match. However, it only needs to be carrying two or more passengers for that purpose for the offence to occur.

Persons can commit an offence as follows :
The vehicle KEEPER (person responsible for taxing it - if they knowingly permit alcohol to be carried)
The HIRER (if they knowingly permit alcohol to be carried)
The PASSENGER (who has alcohol in their possession)
The PASSENGER (who is drunk on the vehicle)
At the Stadium

It is an offence to attempt to enter when drunk a designated sports ground or to be drunk once inside a designated sports ground.

It is for the arresting police officer to decide if the person is drunk.

The Police may STOP and SEARCH any vehicle to which this Act applies (i.e a coach/mini bus) if they have reasonable grounds to believe that an offence is being committed or has been committed.

An acquaintance of mine (Evertonian) got done at Reading season before last for exactly that - stopped on the M-Way by the OB and they'd been drinking on it all the way down. As the hirer/driver I think he ended up in court.

Fck da police.

The final should be at Old Trafford; it will save CO2 emissions and will have enough seats for all the fans who want to go.
