Agree, Jo Brand made a "joke" on have I got news for you where she said her favourite type of man is a "dead one". If a bloke said his favourite type of woman was a dead one he'd be - quite rightly - crucified.

on a tv programme for joking, woman appropriately makes general joke about men

on a tv programme about football, man innapropriately says something of a sexul nature to a work colleague

thats rubbish- im pretty sure franky boyle would have said something like that in his time- still manages to get on air every now and then

Charlotte looks really upset there.

If that isn't a nervous smile I'll eat my hat.

i beleive the origins of the smile in the animal kingdom is as a reaction to something that upsets them/makes them uncomfortable. they show their teeth to give the impression they arent bothered.
when really they are.

What makes you think she can hold her own?

Do you know nothing of the reputation of these guys?

Because she would've had to it can be hard for a woman in sports journalism. Do you think as a sports journalist that she may have suffered genuine sexual discrimination on her way to her current job possibly from these two baffons? I'm pretty sure she would know the difference between an off air joke and genuine sexual discrimination. Give the woman some credit she isn't stupid or are you inferring that she is you sexist pig?

Would've had to when? She didn't here, she ignored it.

Are you saying this happens a lot and she would have to stand up for herself on multiple occasions?

Are you therefore saying that this means it's okay?

"It happens a lot" is not synonymous with "Perfectly acceptable"

I'm genuinely confused as to how people can continue to hold these views.

But the oppressed are always allowed greater leeway in what they say that their oppressors are.

ZacNaloen Would've had to when? She didn't here, she ignored it.

She would've heard and seen genuine sexism throughout her career. She's a young attractive woman in a male orientated world she has probably encountered idiots like these two countless times before and told them to sod off. She laughed so how did she ignore it? Someone else asked her a question how do you know that after the 12 seconds of this clip she didn't say something back to put them in their place.

Are you saying this happens a lot and she would have to stand up for herself on multiple occasions?

Clubs have banned female reporters before because they "may distract" players from training, one female journalist wrote this week that she'd been banned from wearing a dress when doing a report. Another said that one player had described her in a sexual way when she requested an interview with him. Football is a male orientated world, Charlotte would've heard the sort of rubbish spouted in the first clip before (maybe from our own players when she visited the Mad Stad and Turf Moore this season) and dealt with it admirably no doubt.

Are you therefore saying that this means it's okay?

The first video is sexual discrimination, you can tell that by the tone in which it is said and it is therefore wrong and disrespectful. The video with Charlotte Jackson is quite clearly said in a jocular manner and is much shorter than the first and her REACTION is to laugh What happened after the selected 12 seconds is anyones guess but it's very suspicious that it has been cut down to just 12.

"It happens a lot" is not synonymous with "Perfectly acceptable"

Quite clearly you've misunderstood. Saying it happens a lot isn't me saying that it's acceptable I'm saying that it genuinly happens as is heard in the first clip but the second video is far more debatable, it's diferent in tone and can be taken out of context easily due to the length of the video.

I'm genuinely confused as to how people can continue to hold these views.

I get the feeling you're confused a lot

Can't believe people on here assume all women are nervous prudes who get massively offended and uncomfortable by banter. Its actually sexist to tar them all with that brush. Its all interpretation, if you know you've crossed the line don't do it again and apologise, everyone makes mistakes and any normal person on the receiving end of a one off offence usually accepts the apology and we all move on. If it happens frequently, its cause for concern.

This society has gone PC mad.

That anyone still thinks that the behaviour in either is acceptable in the work place, under any circumstances just beggars belief.

Sandman, I'll ignore your responses to my facetious questions, you took them far too seriously. I know full well she will likely have faced similar behaviour before. That she may be used to it, or has learned to brush it off and "just laugh along" is completely irrelevant.

The context of that clip is also irrelevent. He is at work. You do not behave towards female members of staff in that manner, regardless of that persons ability to stand up for them self.

Royal Rother wrote in reply to one of my very sensible posts:-

"Words fail me.You are so out of touch with the modern world you really don't belong in it.Enjoy your retirement.
Over and out."

First of all the idea that words fail you comes as a surprise-usually you are prepared to pontificate till the cows come home.
You make it sound as though you are down with the kids and totally in sync with this "modern world" that you keep on about.
Presumably you might grant an audience if there is anything I need to know about this "modern world" where Cheryl Cole is queen and sneakily snitching on people is becoming the norm.
The only surprise to me is that you consider yourself so in touch when I always had you down as a bald old git.
I really must be confusing you with somebody else.
BTW just stop all the ageist stuff especially as you would probably find that I may be a bit older and wiser than you and could well look some 10 years younger due to clean living,a healthy diet and an active mind.

Unless they give as good as they get of course and you have had "banter" with them for years.

No, whether the banter has existed for year years is actually completely irrelevent in WORK.

Like it or not the rules are just different there.

Today I asked a female employee how much money it would take for her to blow a tramp. She just wanted to know if she had to give a happy finish or not and if so whether it went down or on the pavement.
