FIFA Goal of The Year Award

by roadrunner » 10 Jan 2011 18:48

Matty Burrows, ever heard of him? He plays in Northern Ireland for Glentoran.

He's up against the worlds best players tonight and quite rightly so. Amazing goal.

Didn't win. Winner was just a larrup into the top corner. Not a patch on the Burrows effort.

Lucky it wasn't.

He practised it alot.

He plays for a little club in Ireland. That's why he didn't win.

Not sure which goal win but you can't have a complete fluke of a flick winning

Hamit (sic) Altintop with a 20 yard volley into the top corner won. Think Scholes at Villa Park a couple of seasons ago, just not as good.

And to be fair, if you try a particular trick and it comes off, is it actually a fluke if the guy executed to perfection what he meant?

Interestingly watching local NI news they interviewed Chrisiano Ronaldo who thought it was the goal was the hardest to execute and should have won.

I'm sure it's on the FIFA website somewhere. It was a good hit, power and position but I still don't think technically it was as good as Burrows.

Wonder how much the winner bribed Blatter.

To be fair, Ronaldo would aim to loop it over the keeper into the top corner whereas this guy just hoped for a decent connection before seeing what happened, a bit like the Sinclair overhead kick
