League Cup Final

by Friday's Legacy » 26 Feb 2012 15:37

cardiff 1-0 liverpool

as a reading fan i really don't want to see cardiff win this. normally i'd root for the championship club, but this would give cardiff unbelievable confidence heading into the latter part of the season. normally we can rely on cardiff to bottle it and crumble, but this could be the catalyst for their play-off push.

come on liverpool. raise the bar!

Same thought - a massive thumping would be nice.

Doesn't look like it at the moment

Not so sure. It affected Birmingham negatively last season and I remember Spurs going on an awful run under Juande Ramos after they won it a few years ago. Teams like United and Chelsea haven't trailed off after they've won it in recent years but they're used to winning trophies.

Pretty much this. IIRC Brum didn't win a game or only one like 1 game after winning the cup.

Also, shouldn't Kenny be wearing a suit?

but you refer to teams that were/are premiership at the time they won the cup. cardiff are playing well in the championship and have been all season. winning the league cup and beating liverpool could well convince all of them that they have nothing to fear when the play-offs come around again this season.

On a side note, does Lawrenson ever actually add anything to the commentary apart from sarky little comments?

Was thinking exactly the same. They also seem to usually be about rules or refereeing decisions he doesn't understand when there's been no mistake.

Can't stand him, how he's still got a job I've no idea.

He's not involved in the Sky commentary I'm hearing.

If I had to watch him I'd have to turn the volumn down.

It would save me a claim on the home insurance for when I throw something heavy at it.

It's like he sulks because he's been demoted from pundit to co-commentator.

On another note, is anyone else getting the impression Bellamy doesn't actually want to do anything to contribute to Liverpool winning. He's done no damage what so ever that I've noticed. He runs with the ball a bit then passes it off to slow things down and then run into a place where he's well marked. He's not tried to beat anyone or get on the end of something in a danger area.

Is that a great goal by Kuyt or a jammy one?

Just threw his leg at it really on the rebound. More luck than judgement I think.
