Hooliganism.

by harryroyal » 20 Sep 2012 18:58

I assumed this disease had left our game, but a newspaper article i read about how football "firms" are still around in force led me to do a bit of research. Pretty much every club has a firm, and they all keep in contact via phone and forums :? to arrange meets. Apparently there's a casuals scene, where they go to games and then head to town centres/ pubs for a fight. I even found the Reading "firm's" forum, as predicted nothing really goes on with Reading, but apparently they occassionly get mobs together. This mainly goes on in the championship and below apparently. I think i also saw this so called "Mob" at bournemouth in the pre season. Didn't think anything like this was still around, not on this level anyway.

Blimey. Have you been living in a cave for years? Or you just don't go anywhere but the ground on matchdays?

The fearsome Reading Drinking Squad

I once saw one of them down a can of Top Deck in under 5 minutes. Scary.

It doesn't really.

The general rule is the more commercial a club is, the more the fans of said club tend to try and compensate with talk of secret firms, meets etc.

Despite the fact the there are entire Police units still dedicated to anti-hooliganism and a media ready to send in Ross Kemp at a moments notice at the mere hint of an organised shove the only place you really hear about it is internet message boards.
