Interesting piece in the local rag.
Former Italian international Mauro Camoranesi has been fined £40,000 for a tackle made 18 years ago in which the fouled player (Roberto Pizzi), sustained injuries he never recovered from in an Argentine League game.
Perhaps the most interesting part is the judge's comments...'Although it is not possible to describe Camoranesi's action as deliberately intentional, it was incredibly clumsy, abnormal and avoidable.'
I'm nothing like a law expert myself but those words could apply to absolutely loads of footballing incidents. Not sure if this has happened in a UK court before, i guess it depends on the home countries own laws. There have been a few contenders over the years here though, Roy Keane being one.
