Fans can be wrong

Remember 1st division Brentford fans moaning like f11ck when Warburton was appointed as manager when Rosler left for championship Wigwam.

A few I can think of:

- Man Utd fans with 'Fergie out' type grumblings and banners around '89/90

- Wolves fans being rather unkind about having Steve Bruce as their manager...........who promptly got Hull promoted to the PL as Wolves went down to League 1

- West Ham lynch mob who were giving Allardyce plenty.....he's currently doing a very good job

It seems to be a problem with fans in the north east. The only fans I've met who thought England were going to win a tournament were from there.

There was also a Sunderland fan at work who always felt his club, when in the second tier, were about to go on an unbeaten run to the end of the season.

As for sacking in general, I blame "the media" for creating an atmosphere where pretty much any dip in form for a couple of months is grounds for the sack, and that sacking the manager is the obvious answer to disappointing results*.

Their desire to manufacture a story, coupled with phone-ins (and message boards) giving prominence to knee-jerk reaction shouty type fans, mean the views of such people are over-represented.

* With the obvious exception of Harry Redknapp, who could have his club on four points in March, after spending £300 million in the transfer window, and the papers would still blame everyone else on his behalf.

I take it, by that, that includes us?

Seriously, the Talksquawk/Dive Live Bees feedback at the time, was less than complimentary towards Mr W

Delighted to see him upstage his predecessor
