Unreserved Seating - Another Way To Cut The Cloth

by Thou Voice » 25 Aug 2009 23:33

As season ticket holders, is it wrong for this tight fisted club to force us to sit in unreserved seats?

I mean we pay for season tickets and surely it's our right to sit where we pay to sit for all matches and the only excuse is that the Emperor cannot put his hand in his pockets to pay a few servants to serve us beer and food at half time on the closed stands?

What happens when attendence drops even more, will they start to close stands for League games and bunch people up into a single stand - it looks that way.

If the club had allowed people to sit in their ST seats it would have spread the 5576 people who bothered to turn up even more thinly and made an already crap atmosphere even worse.

ST holders had to purchase tickets for this game and were given paper tickets which clearly stated it was unreserved seating and thus, did not have a seat number on them.

Yes - but the point is - this Season Ticket, the seat should be for league and cup games.

It's not about the stand looking half empty, it does that now at league games - no it's about the club not spending on additional stuff to run facilities.

Surely as a season ticket holder, I have a right to sit next to the cherished season ticket members around me and equally they have the need and want to sit next to me?

Why should I be thrown into a stand with cattle? It's like sitting behind the curtain on an aircraft surronded by disapointing people.

No, it's about the distribution of money between both clubs and the Cup Organiser (FL or FA depending on the Cup) and the allocation of this within ST prices

Only Arsenal do "cup-inclusive STs" and that includes a specific number of cup games, not "all cup games" - they have enough games to ensure these will always be used, and their STs prices are higher to reflect the increased number of matches.

...but in the Premiership, I could by my tickets for my seat and sit next to quality people in Cup games as I am sure you'll all remember, well those of you that are still here and not plastic and have melted.

There is no reason above cutting the cloth to have a change of this policy.

I do see what you're getting at Thou Voice re being able to book your ST seat for cup games.

As I said on another thread, there wasn't much last night to encourage me to want to go to cup games in the future, no parking at HP, half the food/drink outlets on the concourse closed, no burger vans. Everyone from the Chairman down obviously realised that we wouldn't get much of a crowd.

Wuld spending lots of money on having the HP car park stand empty have been a good idea though ?

Thou Voice is clearly on the wind up here.

Your ST is for league games so there isn;t even a discussion about sitting in 'your' seat at cup games any more than there is for London Irish games or Elton John concerts !

Of course they could come up with a way of including some cup games in the ST but the obvious problems would arise when we get drawn away in all our games and people then ask for their money back !

No, not a wind up. This does not sit well with me or my peers.

I have nooooooooooo problem in buying cup games on top of my season ticket - but - I want to be able to sit in my seat.

I did not pay for a season ticket to watch from random parts of the stadium.

The same way, from the pre-season friendly, it was a joke we could not use our car park passes there.

My seat is mine - and I should be allowed for the duration of the extra games in the season to purchase a ticket to be allowed to sit in it for those matches that are not inclusive as we were allowed in the Premiership.

I'd agree about the car park, sell season passes and make them valid for all RFC games.

Trying to stake a claim for 'your' seat for these minor cup game makes no real sense though, you are just trying to generate fights TV !!

If you have to watch a game from a couple of rows away from usual, or from the East rather than the North then live with it.

Define "lots of money"? do the club pay to use the car park and pay the 4 car park stewards on top of that?

Your season ticket does not include cup games. Therefore it is not 'your' seat at cup games. You of course have an option to request your seat when buying your ticket, as long as someone has not already been allocated to it.

Not when seating is unallocated as it was yesterday. But I'd much rather have a crowd condensed into asmaller area and fewer stands than sparsely spread around the whole stadium.

If anyone's seat is that important to them to answer is to get there for when the gates open and dash to it so they stop anyone else sitting in it.

Yes and that you could do in the Premiership however with this cost cutting unreserved seating crap, you cannot - especially when the whole damn stand is closed.

Why should Thou Voice and the family of Thou Voice be forced to sit among others when we were all happy among the people we currently sit with (espeically now that some of the unwashed did not renew).

It wasn't linked to the PL in the slightest - it's linked to the attractiveness of the opposition and the likely size of the attendance.

If we'd been playing an attarcive team yesterday with an expected attendance of 10k or more it would have been all stands open and allocated seating.

I think it was - I remember Daganaham I think we played and Thou Voice and family were allowed to sit in Thou Voice and families seats.

That was the cup one that went to penelties and Steven Hunt missed the opener and was allowed to retake.

There sure as hell was not many there during that night - but - we were allowed to sit in out seats.

Suggest it to the club, that they open that part of the stadium just for you and your mates. Provided that you are happy to pay for all the security, the catering staff and any other additional overheads you incur while the rest of us fit quite happliy in the rest of the stadium for a tenner a head a I am sure they will oblige.
