Final day championship...

by FiNeRaIn » 02 May 2010 18:05

Swansea bottle the play-offs, really hope blackpool do forest but Leicester to go up over all. They were decent enough when we won promotion there a few years ago.

Newcastle finish on 102 - still nothing on our 106 season!

Sheff weds relegated after drawing 2-2, game going to be remembered for the violent scenes at the end. Palace fans ran onto the pitch to celebrate staying up, weds fans run on give a few of them a severe hiding before police push them apart in which the wednesday fans than attack the palace players.

Looks like clint hill has a cut right eye in this picture..

Very naughty scenes, some palace fans took a right hiding in some of the pictures, wednesday fans were raging.

Footage will pop up soon and itll be posted.

LOL at this post on the wednesday forums...

"Just as useless were the ground stewards. Those by the Kop made no effort to stop people coming onto the pitch and seem to have no coordination at all. FFS - a bloke in a wheelchair made it down the ramp from the North Stand and managed to wheel himself half way up the pitch without being stopped! That about sums up Wednesdays season - we have a pitch invasion by a bloke in a wheelchair!""

Some on Youtube I suspect...

In someways I am pleased Palace stayed up because they only had the relegation battle due to the off field problems whereas Sheffield Wednesday have been poor all season.

Good to see you guys end on a high note after last week...well at least you were away and we actually had something to play for unlike today.

Not sure Coventry's excuse was for letting us score 4 in the road..

Watfords 4-0 away win, in comparison to last weeks 3-0 home win......................puts our defeat a little bit more into smug history.

Can see a Reading Watford 1,2 next season

 Bitterness personified.

And who can blame him? That could easily have been us with Lee Wallace barrelling towards the Preston players today, if things hadn't picked up.

Great stuff from the Wednesday fans, although going for players is crssoing the line a bit.

The Mad Stad would have applauded the Palace fans...

true.
Going on the pitch to taunt 40,000 yorkshiremen. Not a good idea.they got what they deserved.

although doubt they would have tried it if our jester hat brigade had gone at them, wieilding flasks of scalding tea.

I see Swansea are moaning about a penalty shout not going their way in the final minute which ultimately cost them a place in the play offs. In my opinion, for what it's worth, any club that averages less than a goal a game over the course of a season doesn't deserve to make the playoffs.

That's silly logic. You can look at blackpool and say any team that relies on another team not getting a penalty and couldn't win their last home game of the season doesn't deserve to make the play-offs.

Luck averages itself out over the course of the season. Swansea scored 40 goals in the league and drew 18 games, 10 of which were 0-0. Over half their defeats were by a single goal.

Had they matched the number of goals scored of the bottom 2 (Plymouth 43 and Peterborough 46) they would be in the playoffs.
