Central defender Sean Morrison has completed a move to Championship rivals Cardiff City. He signs for what is reported to be a four million pound transfer fee. It's a big disappointment that yet another key member of the first team has made an exit, but the size of the transfer seems to make it good business for the Royals. Morrison will link back up with Adam Le Fondre who moved to Cardiff in the summer.
The transfer came out of the blue this week after Morrison asked permission to speak to Cardiff about a transfer. Morrison had featured in both of Reading's first two games of the season. Adkins, who increasingly will have to rely on Reading FC Academy graduates this season, made his disappointment clear in losing a player that was obviously part of his plans for the new season. Anton Ferdinand will one of the few who might be pleased with Morrison's sudden exit.
