Reading have added Spanish top tier side Espanyol to their pre-season friendly schedule. The La Liga side, who finished 10th last season, will visit the Madejski Stadium immediately before the new season kicks off, facing the Royals on Saturday 1 August. The friendly is Reading's only home fixture and follows four away friendlies in July that have already been confirmed.
Barcelona based Espanyol are not expected to field a full strength side for the fixture as they will face a tougher test against Premier League Southampton at St.Mary's the following day.
